And Then

3
2993

And then…

And then?

In the prison of Gaza

They endure

Passing time and pain

In silence and injustice

Suffering alone.

And then?

Media suddenly mute

Governments voiceless

East and West.

Must Israel be right?

What power, what force

Binds you, crushes you?

And then?

Images too vile to bear

Fog my mind

A people stifled, humiliated,

Still erect

Friends, lovers of selective justice,

Where are you?

Do you conceal hurt with hurt?

And then?

Tell us of Darfour;

Hide Palestine with lies

Divert us, scorn us,

Distract us

My heart burns in anger,

Revolt, horror

Is that all?

Is that “all faith can do”?

And then?

No, we will not be silent!

  1. This question is not meant to cause anyone to get angry, or to start an argument. I just need an answer. There are people who say that they practice Islam, then you have people who say they practice “radical” Islam. I don’t understand how someone can practice two different kinds of Islam, when they both read the Koran. Are there two different versions of the Koran? And if there is only one version, why is there so much of a difference between Islam and radical Islam?

    • It is an issue of people not religion. There is one bible but many sects of christianity. There are radical christians and fundementalists and evangelical. There are those who thought that they can enslave others as property (ie. blacks enslaved by Spaniards, portugees, Americans, british…) others committed genocide against races (ie. holocost)!
It is an issue of why people in general do what they do!
Some are pushed due to oppression and injustice to react in violent term others in non violent terms.
What observers, from the outside of the conflicts, should do (in my opinion), they should address causes of occupation, injustice and oppression. They should provide avenues (courts and treaties) that are just and fair so people find a way to address thier problems in a more civilized way. But if no one sees, no one hears, and no one cares, the oppressed continue to suffer.

  2. If tears could have stopped their pain,
    many would

As a perfect truth living by the book is
    well understood

But seeing their falling as a crying
    chorus reverberates

    Shudders a guilty conscience for
    living in ‘peace’

    But here still waiting petrified

Just left to figure out the puzzle of existence

    which is this life…
