Tariq Ramadan interview – On Point with Tom Ashbrook [19/01/2015]

Good interaction between professor Ramadan and Mr Cohen.
I would really love to see Muslims and Jews coming together as brothers and sisters, because wallahi we all are from Adam and Eve. Compassion, forgiveness, and coming to the acceptance that we are different. We may not and will not always like things about each other, but Alhamdulillah that is what Allah intended to test the best of us!
May Allah make me to be this way and then everyone else, ameen.

Are the values of the Westerns to insult anyone they deem in the name of free speech? I feel that many Western journalists need to learn and be more knowledgeable than they are about the history of Muslims, Islam, and modern Muslims. And due to the incomplete and biased knowledge of Muslims and Islam that these journalists have causes them to give statements that are not to help deter and lessen the misunderstandings instead they encourage and feed into the fear of an average person who is not familiar to other Muslim cultures, Muslim way of life, and their values. No human being has a value to kill unjustly. No religion encourages to kill. Unfortunately, the disease is old, to mindlessly blame Muslims and blame them for a violent few. And when any terrorism and violences takes place by non-Muslims, the blame is not on Christian or Jews, it is on that “mentally unstable” person. Never there is a mention that the action of atrocity or violence was by a Jewish or a Christian.

Tom Ash Brook and Roger Cohen saying on an important point raised by Tariq Raman, “leave that aside” WHY? This is what I say dishonesty in dialogue.
No doubt about it that Muslims need to come out of their fantasy lands and participate in any society they live in. They need to change the mindset and own their presence and identity in Europe and North America. We need more Muslims who are educated in Islam and who are familiar with the world of today. As Prof. Tariq Ramadan always says, (not in exact words but something like) “Muslims need to equip themselves with the knowledge of Islam and make it relevant. They should not alienate themselves but be part of European and Western society.” Thank you Prof. Tariq for standing out there and giving voice to the Muslims who need scholars like you. May Allah continue to give you health and energy to do be the “voice of the voiceless” and give you wealth and strength to do all what you do, Ameen.
