Dear Professor Ramadan,
It is indeed not the first time you bring forward these arguments, but your spontaneous outrage eloquently moulded into a warning and a message to incite to action, “to be a voice for the voiceless” was to my understanding never so powerful and so clear.
It was simply brillant.
As for me, I am on my way, more convinced than ever.
Thank you so very much.

Thank you for coming to Chicago and speaking out about the police problem. The police in Chicago (and other parts of the USA) have what amounts to a license to kill. They are almost never punished for using excessive force. As a result, their behavior has become more extreme.
It is also important for an international religious authority like you to investigate and speak about how poor people and powerless groups inside the USA are mistreated. The USA is not a monolithic empire. People here struggle against the American empire, too.
Fifty years ago Malcolm X spoke about how poor and powerless people inside and outside the USA should come together and act in solidarity because we share common problems. The values of Islam give us a framework within which to come together. You sound like him. Congratulations.
