Islam and Psychology

No wonder muslims have psychological problems. They are not at home anywhere.

Our youth is doubly targeted: from within, with parents who don’t have sufficient parenting skills and from outside, the society that isn’t always that friendly to mulsims/foreigners. It’s a dangerous situation.

I have studied pedagogy and I do think muslims in part need to develop their own social sciences (while using existing information): muslims don’t just want their children to grow up to become psychologically healthy people, but to become psychologically healthy muslims. It would be interesting to do imperical research on the factors that contribute to such a development in non-muslim environment.

Muslims need to start talking about sexuality again. On their own terms and through their own principals, but taking into account the reality of modern life. How else do we think we can guide our children, in a world where everything is averse from our principals? Our youth is drawn to the western freedom too. We must find positive ways to lead them to an islamic way of life; just prohibiting things doesn’t work. We must invest in good relationships with our children and open communication about everything, including sexuality.

Je me nomme Abdisalam Mahamoud et je serai en L3 philosophie l’année prochaine inchallah .J’étudie en France .Et étant un fervent amoureux de nos valeurs et principes islamiques ,je voudrais vous demander quelles sont, selon votre expérience ,les œuvres religieux des grands savants musulmans ou autres qui pourraient être bénéfiques autant pour mon cursus philosophique que mon cursus de jurisprudence islamique dont j’aimerais entreprendre prochainement inchallah.
Je comprends qu’avec votre emploi du temps chargé ,il se fait rare que vous puissiez répondre à tout le monde. Mais ,j’insisterais toutefois et je solliciterais votre conseil qui me serait encourageant dans ce monde où l’ on manque des grands frères qui partagent ,sans sarcasme ,nos aspirations de jeunes du 21ème siècle .
