Tariq Ramadan is widely considered to be the leading commentator today on Islam and its role in the West and across the planet.
Ramadan is a professor of Contemporary Islamic Studies and Theology at Oxford University. Time Magazine has declared him one of the world’s top seven religious leaders and one of the world’s top 100 most influential intellectuals, while Foreign Policy has repeatedly declared him one of the world’s 100 top global thinkers. Prof. Ramadan holds an MA in Philosophy and French literature and a PhD in Arabic and Islamic Studies from the University of Geneva. He received one-on-one intensive training in classic Islamic scholarship from scholars at Cairo’s Al-Azhar University (ijazat in seven disciplines). He is President of the European Muslim Network (EMN), a European think tank located in Brussels.
Prof. Ramadan is active at both the academic and grassroots level, lecturing extensively throughout the world on theology, ethics, social justice, ecology and interfaith as well intercultural dialogue.
