So what else is new? In the United States, police and intelligence agencies have been spying on suspected communists, war protestors, student activists, etcetera for decades. Today, we can safely assume that the NSA is scanning all electronic communications and can listen in on ANY conversation anywhere, anytime. It is possible that, at present, Muslims are being targeted more than others. As with anyone else, the only solution is to live courageously and not do anything seriously stupid.

An example of seriously stupid would include the Muslim teen who was caught in a sting operation by agents who gave him an opportunity to make a bomb.

Like it or not, in most nations, sting operations are here to stay. Examples of common sting operations include: Deploying bait cars to catch auto thieves, setting up computer equipment to lure computer hackers, posing as someone who is seeking illegal drugs, weapons, contraband or child pornography to catch a supplier, posing as a child in a chat room to lure a pedophile, posing as a « john » to convict prostitutes, posing a prostitute to entrap johns, posing as a hit-man to prevent a murder-for-hire. While these are fraught with ethical concerns over whether they constitute entrapment, most citizens support the use of sting operations provided police do not manufacture crimes by provoking citizens to commit crimes they would not otherwise have committed.
