Shared Sovereignty WorkshopReligious actors who employ secular language are often accused of using ‘Trojan Horse’ tactics. Human rights activists who employ religious language open themselves up to accusations of rhetorical insincerity. This session will examine the ‘tactics’ of sharing at the intersection of rhetoric and practice both locally and transnationally. When is sharing a ‘tactic’ (i.e. a mere strategy designed to serve more exclusive ends)? When does it involve a welcome transformation in the normative foundations of those involved? How is the notion of ‘sharing’ related to notions of normative or political ‘progress’ in the networks you know best?Cassandra Balchin, Chair, Muslim Women’s Network
